Aspira Continuing Education Now Provides The Coursework Required for Licensed Professionals Wanting to Pursue the CA BBS Grandparenting Path to LPCC Licensure

For licensed professionals, who every renewal period seek after MFT continuing education, there is a new option for licensure. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (CA BBS) has created a new licensing category, LPCC (licensed professional clinical counselor). This new license can be obtained not only from existing licensed professionals in California, but from those licensed in other states as well. For a short period of time, the CA BBS has made available a process to apply for their LPCC license, called the "grandparenting" path. This path will differ for those licensed outside of California from those licensed in the state of California. For those that are non-BBS licensed professionals additional courses are required.

Aspira Continuing Education now provides courses that meet the requirement for the LPCC "grandparenting' path at http://www.aspirace.com. The licensed professional also needs to be sure that their masters or doctorate program covered the core content areas required by the CA BBS. All of the extra courses can be taken from an online provider approved by the CA BBS. The courses and their corresponding number of required hours are as follows:

* 15 contact hours of training in alcoholism and other chemical substance abuse dependency;

* 10 contact hours of training in human sexuality;

* 15 contact hours of training in spousal or partner abuse assessment, detection, and intervention;

* 7 contact hours of training in child abuse assessment and reporting;

* 18 contact hours of training in California law and professional ethics;

* 10 contact hours of training in aging and long-term care; and,

* 15 contact hours of instruction in crisis or trauma counseling.

Aspira has made some new additions to their course listing over the last few months. Due to these additions, Aspira CE now has the courses to meet each requirement listed above. "Now, those seeking licensure with the CA BBS as an LPCC can meet all of their extra coursework in one place", said Nicole Hiltibran, MA, LMFT, CEO of Aspira Continuing Education. "This really simplifies the process during this window of opportunity of the grandparenting path provided by the CA BBS."

Aspira Continuing Education goes beyond just providing courses to meet the new LPCC license in CA. They offer many courses for those seeking renewal of their existing license whether it is in social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Aspira appears to be the "one-stop-shop" for online continuing education for mental health professionals and licensed social workers in most states, not just California.
